What's The Difference Between Lithium Ion Batteries and NiMh batteries?

We live in a new day and age, one in which we can no longer disregard the necessity of a clean and safe environment. The products we choose in everyday life will make all the difference in the world. For a long time, the standard battery used was an alkaline battery. These batteries had a short life span, and with no re-charge capacity, they had to be thrown away after their first use. Imagine millions upon millions of batteries being discarded over a long period, and what that can do to the environment.

NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) has a higher density than alkaline, and this results in a longer life of use. It is possible to recharge and NiMH battery up to 1000 times. And when you consider the high-tech/high-drain of such portable electronics such as digital cameras, MP3's and other devices that eat energy, the NiMH becomes the preferred difference.

Lithium-ion batteries have taken it one step further. This battery has an even higher density rate than a NiMH battery. This means that it can store more energy for its size and weight than other rechargeable batteries. Another important feature is that the lithium-ion battery retains its recharge much longer than the competition. Additionally, the lithium-ion battery can be lighter and smaller as well. This is a big plus when it comes to storage space. Consider that the rechargeable battery is safe for the environment, and easy on the wallet. That makes it a worthwhile choice in any venue.
