Do Rechargeable Batteries Hold Less Than Disposable Batteries?

It is pretty hard to say that rechargeable batteries will hold less power than disposable batteries. Just as it would be equally as difficult to say that disposable batteries hold less power than rechargeable batteries. It all basically comes down to what exactly you are going to be using the batteries for and what kinds of products you will be using the batteries in.

What this means is, when you have rechargeable batteries, they are a much better battery to use than disposable batteries in many of the electronic products that are available today. This is because the disposable batteries today are pretty much made for items that do not drain battery life at such a high level. The low drain items that disposable batteries work well in are things such as flashlights, children's toys, and so on.

When you have such items and electronics that drain battery life at a much higher level, you will find that your rechargeable batteries will last you quite a bit longer than the disposable ones. The types of electronics that are known to draw battery life at high levels include digital cameras, MP3 players and so on. If you have a digital camera, you have probably already noticed that your regular disposable batteries seem to die out on you in a very short time after you install them.

The bottom line is, disposable batteries will end up costing you quite a bit more money in the long run. There is also the matter of cutting down the amount of waste that is sent out into our environment if you use rechargeable batteries. So, the answer of whether or not rechargeable batteries last longer than disposable ones can be answered simply by saying that it all depends on the product that you are using the batteries in.

What Kinds Of Damage Do Regular Batteries Do To The Environment?

Well, when it comes to thinking of what may be a major downfall of using regular batteries over rechargeable batteries, the answer should be really simple. Just think of how many regular batteries just get tossed out into the trash every single time that they die out on you. You may even want to take a guess at how many regular batteries that you, yourself, will throw out in a lifetime just based on how many that you use on average. Scary isn't it?

Research has actually shown us recently that there are over a whopping fifteen billion batteries which are made every single year. Wow! Take into account that a huge number of these batteries are only used one time and then they are thrown into the trash. Once you think of that, just imagine how much waste is being put back into our Earth, due to all of the waste that regular batteries cause over time. That is just way too much for any planet to handle.

It is near certain that the results would be staggering if there were some sort of study on just what type of effect this battery waste actually does cause. There is no way that billions of battery remnants can easily or safely be breaking down in a safe, environmentally friendly manner. Instead, chances are that there are tons and tons of batteries that are just filling the Earth with unnecessary waste. Why would anyone want to create this kind of a problem for our planet? This is one good reason why rechargeable batteries are a much nicer alternative.
